This is retarded. US took the land the same way now North American land was taken from the indians. Hawaii had no modern resources and couldnt do anything about it.

@WADAMAN808 It’s an interesting bit of history. That’s all it is though. “Native” hawai’ians aren’t even natives of the islands, they too are settler occupiers, if you go back far enough. Arn’t they?
The American Indians didn’t always live here, if you know history. So THEY are Settler occupiers as well.
So how far do you go back in the time machine do we go to return land to it’s “rightfull” peoples or back to nature? Who decides?

Actually, it is true man.. the Japanese Empire was rife with war crimes, see “Japanese War crimes of WW2″ on wikipedia, or just google it and behold the mountain of atrocities that comes out.
On both Chinese and American POW’s and citizens, the Japanese were brutal beyond reproach, ranging from slavery and rape houses to testing nifty new swords on the POW’s at will.
@BadBunnyRides sugar cane was a valuable export at the time. coffee and pineapple are also other exports. we did have a small military but we were also a neutral country. you’re right tourism is our main income. we welcome 7 million visitors a year. when the japanese came to hawai’i they didn’t try to control hawaiians like the whites did. i do not think we would be a third world country. Pearl harbor would’ve brought in loads of money to the local economy.

So lets re-write an alternate history: 1898 US withdraws from Hawai’i – The Hawai’i Government has a limited population, no valuable exports, no military and must depend on vacationers as its main income. It is a “Third World Country” with poverty and little medical facilitys. Maybe overlook durring WWI but not WWII, it would have been taken by Japan and US would have had to invade it anyways.

Richy – Well, in the long run for this particular topic, you don’t seem all that bright yourself. Hawaii voted.. and what does that mean exactly? Whites or Native Hawaiians? It was taken by force and considering Hawaii is considered the USA by most, it is obvious that the US took land.

as an american who served in the us army in hawaii, i can tell you that hawaii is an occupied nation, its crazy that the native people that live there are paying mortgages for land that was just stolen from them by foreign banks, who took land from the natives living there who payed no mortgages or insurance or any economic enslavement systems such as these, all this stealing of land was done under the gun. Banks really have no rights to any land, its a mind spell that they have over all people
